Selenite resembles it’s namesake Selene the Moon. It is a hydrous calcium sulfate mineral*, known as gypsum, Selenite can be from white, to golden brown and even colorless. Its relative, Satin spar is more opaque, the same formula comes in the form of Alabaster as well as gypsum, one of the ingredients used to make ‘gesso’. Although the Moon rules the waters tides here on earth it is not good to put any kind of Selenite into or near water as you are taking the risk of having your crystal melt right into a glass of water. With a Moh’s hardness of 2 it is considered ‘one’ of the softest crystals known. It splinters easily and can be hazardous if not handled properly. That being said it is one of THE most generally used healing crystals we have at our disposal.
Used to cleans the auric field and dispel congested etheric energy, it is used metaphysically to clean a room of congested, unwanted, stuck energy in the area and in the body. Used to direct energy during a Crystal Chakra balancing session it works as well with the 3rd eye Chakra and above. While Angel Wing Selenite a clear form of Selenite can be used in scrying work.
It assists the higher self in communication with your Spirit Guides. It identifies with the Element of Air and is a great crystal to have in your arsenal for general healing and purifying spaces of negative, stagnant energy. I use peach Selenite for typical female problems because of its strong yet gentle healing properties. Selenite is a pretty common crystal to acquire and is reasonable in cost. But make no mistake, this crystal works well with many other crystals and due to its healing nature will be one of the first crystals YOU will want to have in your crystal dish!
